This Old House of Worship

What is This Old House of Worship?  It is a 15 hour energy education program on all aspects of the building and the human behavior that effect energy consumption, efficiency and conservation.

Who can participate? Up to 30 people can participate in each series.  We recommend that 2-6 people from each congregation make a commitment to the class.  We hope to have teens in the classes, educators, lay or ordained leaders: anyone who cares about your congregation and has a concern for efficiency and conservation.  Ideally 4-6 congregations in a locale will cooperate together to host and participate in each series of This Old House of Worship.

What do you get from the program?  This Old House of Worship is a professionally designed and taught class that will give you an excellent grasp of energy management and any improvements that make good sense in your facility.  Each participant will receive a workbook to support the learning.  Each congregation that participates will end up with an educated group of people who can help guide the community towards greater energy savings, typically 5-20%.

What is required?  We ask that each community that is thinking about participating send one representative to an orientation meeting at our offices.  We ask each community to delegate a team of 2-6 members.  We ask 5 communities to serve as our hosts for the class. We ask you to delegate a small group to coordinate fund raising efforts for the class. We also require you to designate a contact person that we can consult occasionally to assess the success of the program.
